Sonia Suárez Martínez

PhD. Sonia Suárez is Project Manager at the Group of Environmental Biotechnology (Biogroup) of USC.

She defended her doctoral thesis in April 2008, focusing research on the development of advanced wastewater treatment processes for the removal of organic micropollutants (OMPs, mainly pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and estrogens), including primary, secondary and postreatment options. More recently this research has been devoted to better understand the biological processes driving the cometabolic removal of OMPs.

Author of 23 publications in journals indexed in the SCI, 6 book chapters and editor of 1 book published by IWA, around 50 presentations at International conferences and 1 European patent licensed by SUEZ Company. Index H: 13. Number of citations in Scopus: 1154.
