Alette Langenhoff works at the Department of Environmental Technology, Wageningen University, the Netherlands, and focusses on microbial degradation processes of (micro)pollutants in soil and groundwater with 20 years of national and international research experience. Her main focus and interest is on degradation processes, such as biological and chemical remediation, Natural Attenuation and stimulated degradation of contaminants. She uses her microbiological background in combination with physical/chemical treatments for the removal of low concentrations of organic micropollutants from water.
The aim of her research is to enable the reuse of water for agriculture, drinking water production, and a clean natural environment. Reuse of salt impacted water in Delta regions, and the removal of industrial chemicals from these water streams, is a new and additional research focus.
