Ana graduated as Biologist from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). After working in the field of Environmental Toxicology and analyzing the effects of pollution on health, she got interested in the field of environmental remediation. Therefore, she obtained her MSc in Environmental Sanitation at Ghent University (Belgium) with the thesis “Comparative performance evaluation of constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment”. During her master, she followed an internship at the Laboratory of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (LEQUIA), Spain, with the project “Bioelectrochemical systems: from waste to resource”. Before joining in the NOWELTIES, she did an internship at InOpSys, Belgium as part of the R&D team to support circularity in industrial wastewater treatment.
