Thomas Knepper obtained his PhD in Chemistry from the Faculty of Analytical Organic Chemistry, University of Konstanz, Germany. He joined the Hochschule Fresenius in 2004 as Professor for Analytical Chemistry and Dean of the School of Chemistry, Biology & Pharmacy (until 2017). Since 2017 he is Vice President Research and Research Funding.

His main fields of research are environmental and biochemical analytical chemistry as well as polymer analysis and food safety. His specific interests include mass spectrometry techniques and the elucidation of transformation pathways.

He has published more than 150 peer reviewed scientific publications in environmental chemistry, most of them as first or corresponding author and he is editor of books and published XXX book chapters. The h-index of publications is around 29. He is invited speaker in a various number of international and national congresses and meetings. He is supervisor of Ph.D. (> 10), diploma, master and bachelor students (> 100).

Thomas Knepper was coordinator and partner in national and international research projects. At the time he is partner in five EU and national projects.
